AdBlue fix, or AdBlue delete, in London
A delete is software, done where the car is parked. A repair is workshop work, so the car goes to JF Automotive in Maidstone. Which one is up to you. The AdBlue page explains both in full.
AdBlue fix
JF Automotive is the workshop we're part of. They read the codes and the live SCR data on the ramp, find the part that has failed and replace it. The warning clears, the countdown resets and the car stays as it was built.

The SCR system is switched off in the engine ECU, at your home or work, from the original file, which we keep. The warnings, the countdown and the limp mode stop. It takes about an hour and the price is set from the registration before anyone travels.

The faults behind an AdBlue warning
From the driver's seat they all look the same, which is why a repair is diagnosed on the ramp before it's priced.
- NOx sensor failure - the commonest, and the one most often mistaken for low fluid
- AdBlue pump fault - it can't build or hold dosing pressure
- Blocked or crystallised injector - nothing reaches the catalyst, a short-journey fault
- Level or quality sensor fault - a full tank read as empty, or good fluid read as bad
- Tank heater failure - often shows up on the first frosty morning
- Contaminated or old AdBlue - diluted fluid, or the wrong fluid in the tank
- SCR software faults - the hardware is fine and the ECU still won't accept it
- Limp mode from an AdBlue fault - reduced power until the system proves it works
- A fault that keeps coming back - cleared by a garage, back again within a week

A price, or a workshop booking
For a delete, one fixed figure from the registration. For a repair, JF Automotive book the car in.
Pick a time
For a delete, a booking link for home or work. For a repair, the booking is with the workshop.
The work
For a delete, the original file is read and kept, then the new one written. For a repair, the failed part is found on the ramp and replaced.
Road test and done
The car is driven to prove the warning has gone. A delete takes around an hour all in.
Before you book an AdBlue delete
An AdBlue delete means the vehicle no longer meets the emissions standard it was approved to. Under regulation 61A of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 it is then an offence to use it on a public road, and it will not pass an MOT. A delete is for vehicles used off the public road, on private land, or being exported; driving to have the equipment repaired and driving to a port for export are both permitted.
By booking a delete you confirm the vehicle's use and accept our delete conditions, which are set out in full in our terms and conditions. That's the whole of the notice. You now have the facts, and the decision on what to do is yours to make.

AdBlue in London, the questions we get asked
How much does an AdBlue delete cost in London?
From £245 for a delete, and that figure doesn't move once it's agreed. A repair is quoted by JF Automotive in Maidstone once the car is on the ramp, and agreed with you before any work starts.
I topped up and the light is still on. Why?
Because the lamp is reporting a stored fault, not the level. Topping up doesn't clear a fault, and on many cars the lamp only goes out once the fault is repaired and the code cleared.
The counter is nearly at zero. What should I do?
Tell us the miles left when you enquire and we'll prioritise it. Once it reaches zero most cars won't restart, so book before you run it down.
Can the delete be reversed?
Yes. We keep your original file, and putting the car back exactly as it was takes one visit. Lease returns and dealer visits are the usual reasons.
What if a main dealer software update wipes it?
We'll need to visit again to reload the file, which carries a call-out charge. Tell the dealer the car has been modified before any update and they will usually leave the engine software alone.
